From Bushes to Brilliance: A Novice's Journey in Brick Patio Design
In 2005, my friend’s mom asked me to build a patio in her backyard when she learned I was studying landscape design at the University of Illinois. I had trimmed her bushes since I was 16 years old and she was now putting quite a bit more faith in me. Despite my lack of experience in brickwork, she trusted me with the project. I was determined to exceed expectations, so I designed a patio with a fire pit, seat walls, and concentric circles. It took a lot of effort, but the result was a stunning patio that still stands strong over two decades later, showcasing the durability of brick pavers when installed properly.
Typical landscape companies operate with one salesperson, no landscape designers, and several small crews handling multiple projects simultaneously.
At Scott Flanagan Landscape, we operate differently. With two dedicated designers and a six-person installation team focused on one project at a time, we ensure quality and efficiency. While one designer in the office, Scott is able to oversee the on-site crew, guaranteeing a high-quality final installation and minimizing disruption to your daily life.
